Intellectual Wellness

Intellectual Wellness means feeling stimulated and engaged with learning and staying open to new ideas and perspectives.

Tips

  1. Keep an open mind.
  2. Attend outside-of-the-classroom learning opportunities, like speakers and cultural events.
  3. Read books “for pleasure” and talk about them with friends or family.
  4. Take an unusual class or one outside of your major or main focus area.
  5. Subscribe to an interesting newspaper, magazine, or journal.
  6. Try mentally-stimulating activities–like sudoku, crossword puzzles, or chess!
  7. Be aware of current issues and events.
  8. Develop new skills, hobbies, and interests.
  9. Visit one of UM’s many museums.
